My first shot at a garden has been unabashedly much more successful than I expected. I have Big Boy tomatoes the size of a two year old's head, and dozens and dozens of Romas developing faster than their poor plant can support.
Unsure of whether I had the time, equipment, or will to try canning this year, I decided to instead use up the tomatoes as best as I can while they're fresh and give away the rest.
Fresh salsa ingredients. (some from my garden, some from the market)
Meijer salsa's got nothin' on mine.
It was admittedly way too hot last night to drink tomato soup (maybe I should have made gazpacho) but I made it anyway and it was totally worth it. All I was missing was a grilled cheese sandwich.
Still waiting for these babies to ripen up...
